Dennis Kucinich for President
|
Opponents registered the .COM and .ORG versions of his domain name and put up an anti-Kucinich website.
|
Dennis Kucinich registered Kucinich.NET in 1999 for his Congressional Campaign website. A few months later, his opponents registered both Kucinich.COM and Kucinich.ORG and put up an anti-Kucinich website. It is not clear WHY he chose a .NET name -- perhaps he wanted to create a NETwork of Kucinich supporters.
When he ran for President in 2004, he registered Kucinich.US for the campaign. His opponents still had the .COM and .ORG versions, and continued with their negative websites. Many supporters accidentally stumbled across the negative website.
Congressman Kucinich should have registered both the .COM and .ORG names to match the .NET and .US names. This would not have prevented the negative websites, but fewer of his supporters have been exposed to them.
